Job Title: MAINTENANCE FOREMAN
Reports To: MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
General Job Description:
This position is responsible for maintaining all assigned facilities at the highest level of care. Oversees and assists in the work of the assigned maintenance team to ensure safe high-quality work and timely completion of all work orders Responds to after hour emergencies as needed and/or directed by supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee and assist in the completion of all assigned work orders.
- Assign work orders in a manner to maximize efficiency.
- Ensure completion of all assigned work orders to include time spent, materials, and other needed information.
- Fill in to complete work assignments in various trades when required.
- Receive calls and report status of work orders to keep supervisor and school staff (i.e. principal, office manager, head custodian, teacher) updated on completion.
- Oversee work and conduct of all assigned maintenance employees.
- Keep supervisor up to date on all pertinent activities of maintenance operations.
- Plan and coordinate minor construction projects with outside contractors. Assist with planning and coordinate summer work as directed by supervisor.
- Prepare for FMAR inspections to ensure highest possible care of assigned buildings.
- Assist other trades as needed for the purpose of meeting demands and completing projects.
- Work collaboratively with school staff to complete work in a timely manner that will minimize disruption to the learning environment.
- Respond to emergency situations by calling out and directing the proper personnel.
- Coordinate supply orders and needs to ensure maximum utilization of repair time by facilities staff.
- Ensure ongoing safe work practices.
- Ensure that shops, vehicles and yard areas are kept neat and clean and locked at the end of the day.
- Oversee start times, break times, and quitting times.
- Conduct safety training and staff meetings in conjunction with supervisor. Prepare written reports for the purpose of documenting activities and meeting district, local, state and federal requirements.
- Assist supervisor in short term and long range planning.
- Oversee the work of contractors assigned to area of responsibility.
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or the Superintendent.

- Act as a good role model within the context of the school.
- Develop and use appropriate community and professional resources.
- Demonstrate concern for student's well-being and positive self-esteem.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Other Maintenance staff, as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Post-secondary educational experience preferred in the fields of construction management, maintenance certifications and/or licenses in a related construction trade (i.e. plumbing, electrical, mechanical, construction, etc.)
- Minimum of 5 years documented experience in facility maintenance.
- Possess a Valid Driver’s license appropriate for operating vehicles for the size required for this position.
- Computer literate.
- Familiarity with codes and enforcement as they apply to public schools.
Physical Requirements:
Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds), climbing stairs/ladders, reaching, squatting, kneeling, having full mobility, and moving furniture may be required, unless ADA accommodations have been mutually agreed on and does not create an undue hardship upon the district.
Safety and Health:
Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions (blood borne pathogens, body fluids, etc.)
Equipment/Material Handled:
Must know how to properly operate, or be willing to learn to operate, multi-media equipment including current technology as needed.
Work Environment:
Must be able to work within various degrees of noise and temperature. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments without direct supervision. After hours work may be required. May work under stressful conditions on occasion.
